The XENCELABS PEN DISPLAY 16 LITE 4K OLED is now available (sponsored press release)

Introducing the works of Pixar Renderman and Damn! Visdev, which will soon be featured in an animated short titled Teds World, in 2026

today, XENCELABS, a leading global brand in the field of digital drawing tools, launched the Pen Display 16 Lite, an ultra-portable 4K OLED touch screen designed for ambitious artists on the go. at a cost of 899 euros, This device combines studio quality performance with high mobility. The packaging presents exclusive illustrations from a unique international character-centered animation project by Ted Paul. This collaboration highlights how advanced technology and artistic creativity come together to push the limits of digital storytelling.

A character who has character: bring Ted Paul to life.

The story behind the illustration on our packaging is as fascinating as the product itself. The image of Ted Paul, a whimsical character in the shape of a frog, comes from a hand drawn sketch by Jesper Ejsing, a renowned fantasy illustrator, known for his stylized and emotion-rich characters. thanks to an innovative partnership between XenElabs, the team Pixar’s Renderman, the animation studio Damn! Visdev and workstations Dell, Ted Paul went from a 2D drawing to a dynamic 3D animated character, demonstrating the potential of modern rendering technologies to preserve the artistic style.

” Ted Paul started as “Frog Boy” in my sketches. I wanted it to look real, with mood swings that make it human, not just cute », explains Jesper Ejsing. “ Frogs aren’t naturally adorable “, adds Jesper. ” I wanted to see how much I could make a frog friendly while keeping this disturbing side. »

Ted Paul is a fascinating character who required a meticulous artistic approach on the part of all the creators involved in the project, to be transposed into 3D. With his awkward rabbit teeth, exaggerated smile and tadpole tail that suggests his unfinished adolescence, Ted Paul embodies an emotional, angry but quick to forgive, always full of energy and tension. The collaboration began when Dylan Sisson, Technical artist of Pixar’s Renderman team, met Jesper at a conference and imagined using Renderman 27’s new XPU rendering system to translate Jesper’s distinctive style to 3D. The founders and creative directors of DAMN! Visdev Studio, Fabio Sciedlarczyk and Nicolas de Aquino, took up the challenge by using XENCELABS stylus screens (notably the 16 and 24 series) for precise modeling and animation in tools such as Zbrush, Maya and substance painter.

” Ted Paul having been created in Jesper’s unique style, our top priority was to preserve visual integrity », said Fabio Sciedlarczyk. ” XENCELABS stylus screens gave our artists the control necessary to capture all the nuances of the original work. »

Nicolas de Aquino, from Damn! Visdev, added: The stylus screens made it possible to achieve intentional brushstrokes that reflect Jesper’s style, while Dell’s RTX A6000 and Renderman XPU workstations have enabled real-time rendering of complex and stylized scenes. This pipeline made it possible to keep the essence of hand drawing in 3D. »

” In collaboration with Jesper Ejsing, Damn! Visdev, Dell and XenceLabs, we are all in the same boat », said Dylan Sisson. ” We’re just advancing technology to achieve new things, because we think it’s fun and cool. This is art that defies technology and technology that inspires art, as Pixar always says. »

Animated short Teds World, which stages the adventures of Ted Paul in his aquatic habitat, should be released in 2026 as part of the promotion of technological and artistic innovations crossed. It will introduce the new stylized effects of Renderman 27, including real-time brushstrokes and watercolor effects, demonstrating how technology can inspire art and, at the same time, how XENCELABS products can help artists create what they dream with precision, beyond the borders between illustration and animation.
